The Congress Avenue Bridge is the site of the largest bat colony in Texas. Experts estimate that as many as 1.5 million bats live on the bridge. Bats sleep during the day and take flight at night. A stroll down Congress Avenue will allow you to watch hundreds of bats take flight. You can even stand on the pedestrian part of the bridge to see them. It’s a great place to get a closer look at the nocturnal creatures.
